NDT

SPL Treatments provides non-destructive testing (NDT) solutions, specialising in Liquid Penetrant (PFD) and Magnetic Particle (MFD) inspections. These methods are essential for detecting surface and near-surface defects in metal components, ensuring structural integrity, quality control, and compliance with industry standards across the aerospace sector.

PFD

Fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) is a type of dye penetrant inspection in which a fluorescent dye is applied to the surface of a non-porous material in order to detect defects that may compromise the integrity or quality of the part in question.

SPL offers PFD IAW National & Global standards as well as specific customer specifications

MFD

Magnetic particle inspection is an inspection method used to identify defects on the surface of ferromagnetic materials by running a magnetic current through it. It can also be used to detect defects just beneath the surface of materials

Etch Inspection (Nital or Sulphuric Etch)

SPL Treatments also provides Etch Inspection services, using Nital or sulphuric etch techniques to assess components for signs of machine abuse or material defects. This process is suitable for both corrosion-resistant and non-corrosion-resistant metals, helping to identify surface flaws, microstructural issues, or stress-related damage, and ensuring components meet stringent quality and safety standards.

Pre-Pen Etch

SPL Treatments provides specialist Pre-Pen Etch services for Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Titanium components, supporting the stringent requirements of the Aerospace and Defence sectors.

This controlled surface preparation process ensures clear, permanent and fully compliant part marking without compromising material integrity. Delivered under our AS9100 Rev D quality system and aligned with NADCAP standards, our Pre-Pen Etch capability maintains traceability while protecting critical components.

Precision preparation for permanent performance.
